Rising American singer/DJ/producer Felva continues his genre-blending with ‘Weyuhfindthis’ (aka WYFT), his new song that also features Busta Rhymes, Ding Dong and Popeye Caution. It was released on July 7 by The Conglomerate Ent, which is owned by Busta Rhymes.
Felva, who produced the track, is a major player in Miami’s party scene. He told this column that ‘WYFT’ is about all what’s hip.
‘‘Weyuhfindthis’ is all about fashion, style, and swagger. If you’re wearing a dope outfit or a nice pair of shoes or driving a cool car or simply come up on something dope in general, it’s like ‘yo, weyuhfindthis’?”, said Felva. “It’s a perfect vibe for the summer because everyone is outside holding a big vibe and looking good. It also has a super-cool dance element to it.”
He added that Ding Dong and Popeye Caution were perfect for the song.
“They have always been known for dance and fashion and with the legendary Busta Rhymes involved, the song really makes for a dope dancehall/hip hop crossover record.”
Felva, whose roots are in Colombia and Ecuador, has known South Florida-based Popeye Caution for several years. They collaborated last year on ‘Starboy’, an EP with reggaeton star Jowell.
It was Popeye Caution who introduced him to his fellow Jamaican, Ding Dong. There was an instant connection.
“It’s been super dope and fun to work on this song and also a bit of a challenge at times but all in good spirits. Ding Dong is a super-talented writer and I love that his music and brand is about dance and fashion and fun. It’s positive music made that is meant to make people happy and dance, which I appreciate,” said Felva.
