The reggae scene is set to come alive with the vibrant and empowering all-female reggae jam session, Empress Mash Up. On August 5th, 2023, Harbourfront Centre in Toronto will witness an unforgettable performance by four dynamic solo artists and the talented Rayzalution Band. This event aims to highlight and celebrate the often-neglected presence, participation, and contribution of women to reggae music.
Rayzalution, Canada’s all-female reggae band, leads the charge with their intense and stylish approach to reggae music. Since their formation in 2017, Rayzalution has been making waves in the Greater Toronto Area, and their upcoming studio album promises to be a much-anticipated addition to their musical journey.
Chelsea Stewart, known as one of the hardest-working female artists in the reggae business, brings her mesmerizing style to the stage. With performances across four continents and over 30,000 physical copies of her music sold on the streets of Toronto, Stewart’s global impact is undeniable.
Tiffanie Malvo, daughter of reggae veteran Anthony Malvo, is another force to be reckoned with. Her successful collaborations and status as the female face of reggae and dancehall in Toronto have earned her recognition and opportunities to open for renowned artists.
Natural Fyah, a fiery young queen, challenges industry norms with her unique sound and presence. Evolving beyond stereotypes, Natural Fyah’s performances create vibrational ripples that resonate with audiences.
Donna Makeda, with her impressive repertoire of music and numerous awards, adds further depth to this already stellar lineup. Her new single ‘Pack up and Gwaan’ and the recently released video for ‘Vegan Dinna’ showcase her continued dedication to her craft.
Together, these four artists will blend their distinct styles and variations of reggae, dancehall, RnB, and more, creating a fusion of sounds that promises to be an extraordinary experience for all attendees. Backed by the talented Rayzalution Band, Empress Mash Up is a testament to the strength and creativity of women in the reggae.
