Reggae crooner Duane Stephenson is embracing the laid-back relationship vibe with his latest single ‘Weekend Dude’. The single acts as the lead track from his latest album project, also called ‘Weekend Dude,’ that was officially released while the artiste was on his European tour earlier this summer.
Stephenson sees the ‘Weekend Dude’ album itself as a quest to not take ourselves so seriously especially after surviving COVID-19. The single amplifies that thought as it talks about a situation-ship or a weekend relationship that is easy and fun, and just for the weekend.
“After COVID we all needed a break, man, learn to relax and not take everything too seriously. Being a weekend dude isn’t for everyone though, it depends on where you are in life; if you are the reason for a great weekend and that freedom yes, but if you are at the point where you [are] looking to be a picture of growth and seriousness than maybe not so much,” he explained.
Stephenson also believes that the weekend relationship experience is more common than people are willing to admit, and many have had this experience at some point, especially during their youthful dating.
“People will relate to ‘’Weekend Dude’ because it is a part of life, and most have had that kind of a relationship. Nowadays, more and more people prefer that hassle-free relationship experience, and even enjoy that on TV and on radio, and are really invested in the freedom, it seems,” Stephenson added
For him, the ultimate weekend date starts with dinner and a movie, followed by experiences that take you away from the routine of everyday life. This concept will be reflected in the visuals for the single, which are expected to be completed later this month.
