A powerhouse on the decks, she has made waves across the UK and beyond, bringing her signature blend of infectious energy and eclectic sound to audiences from Berlin to The Gambia, Mexico to Cape Verde.
Her journey began at just 16, when she found solace and purpose in reggae music during challenging times. Inspired by its uplifting message and powerful rhythms, DJ Kat committed herself to sharing the positivity of Jah Music with the world. Whether spinning tunes for intimate community gatherings or commanding massive festival crowds, her ability to connect with listeners is undeniable.
Over the years, DJ Kat has shared stages with legendary artists and sound systems, including Sir Coxsone (who personally requested her to DJ for him), Aba Shanti-I, Wayne Wonder, and Tippa Irie. She has also played for reggae greats such as Carrol Thompson, Sandra Cross, and Ossie Gad. Her ability to blend old-school reggae, roots, and modern styles while keeping it clean and authentic makes her a standout in the industry.
Beyond the turntables, DJ Kat is an active community figure, using her platform to uplift emerging talent. Whether hosting her weekly radio shows or featuring rising artists on her coveted DJKat’s Top 5, she continuously champions fresh voices in reggae and beyond. Her broadcasts, packed with world-class interviews—including chats with Maxi Priest, Beenie Man, and Protoje—have captivated audiences worldwide.
As a proud Selecta for the fast-growing collective Sisters in Dub, DJ Kat is pushing boundaries, delivering Jah Music in a unique and empowering way. Her impact extends beyond the music scene—she’s deeply involved in the Arawak Community Trust, organizing events like Windrush celebrations, family fun days, and cultural exhibitions. She even took part in the “Each One Teach One” panel at City Splash, sharing insights alongside Channel One Sound System.
2023 and 2024 have seen DJ Kat elevate her career even further. She performed in Prague at the iconic Cross Club for the “Woman on a Mission” event, alongside an all-star lineup of female DJs and MCs. She’s taken the stage at Slovenia’s OverJam Festival, played to 40,000 visitors at Godiva Festival, and recently packed-out Jungle Rumble in Brighton with King Tafari Love.
Her love for poetry adds another layer to her artistry, having performed in front of Linton Kwesi Johnson and interviewed the late Benjamin Zephaniah. Most recently, she combined poetry with live music to celebrate Ethiopian culture in Coventry.
In 2024, DJ Kat continued to make waves internationally, with performances in Norway, where she had the honor of selecting for Eek-A-Mouse and sharing the stage with Black Omolo and Aba Shanti-I.
