Roots singer Dinho da Rastaman’s first album is scheduled for release in June. The Jamaican artist, who made his name on his country’s tourist scene, has released a handful of songs in the past three years.
He worked with different producers on the upcoming project including Neville Muir, who has been part of his camp since 2022. The yet-titled album is likely to include ‘Journey’ and ‘Cherish’, Dinho da Rastaman’s initial songs.
Those tracks, as well as ‘River’ and ‘Greatness’, which were released in 2024, whetted his appetite for more studio work.
“I love the (recording) studio, that’s my getaway and creative space. I have developed a sound and movement that the fans love,” said Dinho da Rastaman.
The dreadlocked artist is originally from rural Manchester parish in southern Jamaica. He started his career there singing in clubs before moving to major hotels in Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.
Some of Jamaica’s top acts like A.J. Brown, Mikey Spice and Benjy Myaz credit performing in those venues for developing their skills as singers and musicians. Dinho da Rastaman feels the same way.
“It’s hard work as we will do as many as five shows per week, but we love it as we are trying to represent reggae as the world sees it,” he said.
