Keith and Tex, the veteran duo known for classic songs like ‘Tonight’ and ‘Stop That Train’, recently released ‘Gun Life’, an album produced by Roberto Sanchez of Spain for his Liquidator label.
It is their latest project with Sanchez, who has produced albums and songs by roots luminaries like Earl Zero, Mykal Rose and Luciano. ‘Gun Life’ has 12 songs including the title track, ‘Country Living’ and ‘Living Ina Babylon’.
“The songs on our latest album reflect our everyday experiences, living our lives and observing the changes in North America (Babylon),” said Keith, who lives in Florida. “This album is different from other albums we have recently done; our previous work had more love songs in the style of writing/singing of the rock steady era.”
Keith and Tex had a series of hit songs in the late 1960s for producer Derrick Harriot including ‘Tonight’, ‘Stop That Train’ and ‘Don’t Look Back’. They were on top of their game when they migrated from Jamaica in the early 1970s. Keith migrated to the United States where he served in the army for 20 years. Tex settled in Canada and worked with the government until his retirement.
Since reviving their music careers in the 1990s, Keith and Tex have recorded several albums, three of them produced by Sanchez. ‘Same Old Story’ in 2017 and ‘Freedom’, released five years later, are their other collaborations with the prolific Spaniard.
They have also maintained a busy live schedule since 2013, performing in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
