Chronixx Criticize Spotify and Threatens Not to Release More Music in the Future

In a recent post on his Instagram page, reggae singer Chronixx has taken to social media to vent his frustration over unauthorized music appearing on his Spotify account. The renowned artist, known for hits like ‘Smile Jamaica’ and ‘Never Give Up,’ slammed the streaming giant for allowing scammers to upload songs without his consent, including explicit content.

Chronixx clarified that his Spotify account had not been hacked but criticized the platform’s lack of safeguards, highlighting that anyone can upload music to his official profile. Despite being verified, artists like Chronixx are vulnerable to unauthorized uploads, a problem plaguing Spotify for the past five years.

Expressing his dismay, the roots reggae artist urged fellow musicians to take advantage of the loophole, sarcastically encouraging them to flood his profile with more music since he has no new releases planned. This move comes as a form of protest to Spotify’s policies, which rely on artists reporting unauthorized content through a formal process rather than proactively preventing it.

The Jamaican singer’s frustration underscores broader concerns within the music industry regarding digital platforms’ ability to protect artists’ intellectual property. Despite his previous successes with albums like ‘Chronology,’ which garnered critical acclaim and Grammy nominations, Chronixx expressed disappointment and announced his withdrawal from future productions until the issue is resolved.

Spotify has yet to respond publicly to Chronixx’s criticism or outline steps to address the ongoing problem. In the meantime, fans are encouraged to report any suspicious content on the platform, while artists like Chronixx remain vigilant in safeguarding their music from unauthorized use.
