‘Habibi’ may be her first solo song in some time, but Cen’C Love does not consider it a comeback. Released on August 14, she produced the track and played all instruments.
It is the lead song from ‘Elephant’, her second EP which is scheduled for release in October. While not much has been heard from her in recent times, Cen’C Love insists she has not been twiddling her thumbs.
“I’ve produced music that featured several reggae artists — Capleton, Sizzla, Richie Spice, Warrior King. I also co-produced (songs) with my dad, Cocoa Tea, and acted as a musical director with other respected producers,” Cen’C Love disclosed. “But not everyone knows that I make so much of that music, so I want to re-establish myself not just as a singer.”
‘Dad’ is Bunny Wailer, the legendary reggae singer/songwriter who died in 2021. He had a major impact on her personally and professionally.
“The best advice my father gave to me was to be independent; self sufficient. He always taught me the importance of owning as much as I can,” said Cen’C Love.
There are only three songs on ‘Elephant’ which hits the market 17 years after ‘A Little More Time’, her first EP. ‘Love Letter’, Cen’C Love’s only album, was released in 2011.
‘Habibi’ is actually her second song for 2025. She collaborated with drummer/singer Paul Kastick on ‘Is This Love’, a cover of the1987 power ballad by rock band Whitesnake.
