Hamilton, Ontario reggae artist Celena is set to release her highly anticipated new single, “Mi Living,” on September 15, following the success of her previous release, “Feels Like a Movie,” which topped the Canadian Top 20 Reggae and Dancehall chart.
With the upcoming single, Celena is signaling that she is ready to take her career to the next level and make her mark on the international reggae scene.
According to Celena, “Mi Living” is a powerful reminder to embrace life fully and intentionally, recognizing that tomorrow is never promised.
“We spend so much time waiting, watching, worrying about what people will say, or putting our happiness on hold for the ‘right’ moment. This song is about letting go of that mindset and choosing to live,” Celena said.
The song’s message is also reflected in its planned cover art. While considering different ideas for the artwork, Celena recalled a captivating sunrise photograph she had taken on her phone some time ago. After finding the image in her archive, she felt it was the perfect visual representation of the song.
“For me, the rising sun represents a new day, new beginnings, and another opportunity to rise and shine,” she said. “Every morning is a reminder that we have another chance to make the most of the life we’ve been given—to live, love, grow, pursue our dreams and create meaningful memories.”
“Mi Living” is produced by Toronto-based producer and audio engineer Ty Danelley of Risk Engineering, whose work in the reggae and dancehall space includes collaborations with internationally recognized Jamaican artist Popcaan. Danelley’s experience in the genre helped shape the sound of the new single and bring Celena’s creative vision to life.
The release comes at an exciting time for Celena, who has been nominated in several categories at the third annual Reggae North Music Awards, where she is also slated to perform.
Following the chart success of “Feels Like a Movie,” Celena hopes “Mi Living” will continue to build momentum and introduce her music and message to an even wider audience. “Mi Living” will be available on all leading online music stores and streaming platforms beginning September 15.
