Capleton is Not Pleased with the Current State of Jamaican Music

Dancehall star Capleton is not happy with the current state of Jamaican music.  In a recent interview, he said the time has come to bring back Jamaican music to its authentic state.

“I am really not comfortable with the current state of the music, and I know many other persons are not comfortable with it. We have to be careful about what we are highlighting and glorifying and sending out to the world. People know us for our authentic dancehall and reggae music. We need to bring back the music to its authenticity. What is being promoted now is not authentic, we have the ability to do better. We can definitely do better because we have talent and creativity. It is up to all of us in the music industry to do the right thing,” said the artiste.

Capleton is booked to headline this year’s staging of the annual Fyah In Da Ville stage show which is usually held in Mandeville.  This year the event is scheduled to take place at the Jamaica Tamboo Resort in Negril on November 25.

The veteran deejay who is known worldwide for his high-energy performances plans to deliver a scorching set for his fans in Negril.

“It’s been a very long time since I’ve performed in Negril, it’s one of my favourite places to perform. I am really looking forward to this show. The fans in Negril can expect the usual fiery Capleton performance. The high energy, high intensity performance that I deliver everywhere both locally and internationally,” he said.

The firebrand entertainer also shared a few words of advice for newcomers in the music business.

“As a young artiste coming into the business you have to surround yourself with the right people. Surround yourself with genuine people who love you for you and not for the hype and the fame. You also have to remember to pay homage to the pioneers and the icons who came before you. Always, remember to be humble, disciplined, diligent and keep the fire burning,” said Capleton.

The line-up for Fyah In Da Ville also includes Najeeriii, Munga Honorable, Ffurious, Idrae and Elbizzle.
