Buju Tour

Management for Buju Banton have denied that his ‘The Overcomer Tour’ of the United States has been canceled. They said some of the dates have been rescheduled, reportedly due to sluggish ticket sales.

The rescheduled shows were intended for September in Houston and Dallas, Texas, Phoenix, Arizona, Inglewood, California and Chicago, Illinois. The Overcomer Tour’s opening show, on August 23 at the Amerant Bank Arena in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will go ahead.

While no reason has been given for the postponements, a statement from Buju Banton’s management said: “The Overcomer Tour is on, and there will be no cancellations.”

In August, the Grammy-winning artist will also perform in Tampa, Florida, Washington DC and Boston, Massachusetts. Atlanta, Georgia and Hartford, Connecticut are his other dates in September.

The Overcomer Tour was announced 48 hours after Buju Banton performed to sold-out audiences (July 13-14) at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. That venue, home to National Hockey League team New York Islanders, has a 18,500 capacity.

It is the Grammy-winning artist’s first shows in the United States since 2009’s Rasta Got Soul tour. Buju Banton served an eight-year prison sentence in the US, which ended with his December 2018 deportation to Jamaica.

In May, it was announced that his US visa was reinstated.
