‘Awake’, the third album from roots singer Stranjah Miller, was released on April 25 by True Move International. It comes three years after the release of ‘Move Mountain’, his second album.
According to Stranjah Miller, ‘Awake’ was meant to be an EP, but during production, there was a change in direction by him and its producers.
“‘Awake is quite different when compared to the other albums I have done. I will describe ‘Awake’ as a more polished and uplifting project. It is a conscious reggae roots album with a sense of spirituality,” he said.
Various producers contributed to the 15-song set, including True Move International, Afrokaf, Vilaz Zen, Lion Riddims, Zion High Sound, Guiding Star Sound, DP Production, Jah Colors Production, Digital Cut, and Ruff Stereo Sound System.
‘Awake’ contains the title song, a Nyahbinghi jam that opens the album. There are also ganja stompers such as ‘Herbalist’ and ‘Coconut Chalice’, as well as the back-to-Africa call of ‘Repatriation’.
Stranjah Miller is from rural St. Ann parish in Jamaica. A recording artist since 2008, his biggest market is Europe where he performs annually.
‘Bad Slave’, his first album, was released in 2019 by Strategy Record out of France. ‘Move Mountain’ was produced and distributed by KDM Family from the Reunion Islands.
‘Lawless’, Stranjah Miller’s lone EP, was released in 2020.
