Japanese reggae buff Eisaku Yamaguchi, known as Selector A, will release the latest in his ‘Reggae Loves’ projects in July. ‘Reggae Loves Africa Vol. II’ is the title of the 10-song album which will be distributed by VP Records.
His first ‘Reggae Loves Africa’ compilation album was released in 2014 and also came out on that New York-based label. Like the first ‘Reggae Loves Africa’, ‘Volume II’ is inspired by developments on the African continent and South African icon Nelson Mandela, his country’s first black president.
“This album is inspired by Nelson Mandela, his love for Africa, the future he dreamed of, and the fight he never gave up on. His unwavering belief in justice and equality continues to resonate with people around the world,” said Selector A. “Through this album, I hope to carry on that message and inspire not just Africans in Africa, but people from all corners of the world to come together and help build a stronger, better Africa.”
‘Music Is the Rod’ by Garnet Silk, ‘Africa is Calling’ by Frankie Paul, and ‘Black Woman & Child’ by Sizzla are some of the songs on ‘Reggae Loves Africa Volume II’.
Selector A is from Kanagawa, a district in southern Japan close to the capital Tokyo. A fan of reggae for over 30 years, he has lived in the United States since 1995. ‘Reggae Loves Jah’ and ‘Reggae Loves Romance’ are his other compilation albums.
