Kirk Nelson, better known as “Captain Kirk,” the celebrated “bad boy” of radio, is making waves once again. This December, Captain Kirk and his co-host, Empress Shae, will bring their wildly popular radio program, The Mid Day Jamz, to Reggae North Radio. Starting Wednesday, December 18, listeners in Canada can tune in to the electrifying show every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Currently a staple on Supa Jamz Radio in Palm Beach, South Florida, The Mid Day Jamz is simulcast in Jamaica and the UK. Known as the hottest three hours of Caribbean radio in South Florida, the show blends vibrant Caribbean beats, engaging conversations, and the magnetic personalities of Captain Kirk and Empress Shae.

Captain Kirk’s illustrious career in broadcasting began in 1993 when he hosted his first program in New York. Over the years, he has become one of the most beloved Caribbean radio personalities, renowned for his deep knowledge of music and his ability to connect with audiences.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Kirk Nelson grew up in the small town of Bethany, Manchester, under the care of his grandmother. After migrating to New York in 1982, he crossed paths with broadcaster and musicologist Ken Williams, who encouraged him to pursue formal training in broadcasting.
Since then, Captain Kirk has honed his craft at major stations including WNWK and WVIP in New York, HOT 102 FM in Jamaica, and 1430 AM and 1010 AM WGUN in Atlanta. His innovative work in Atlanta even led to the launch of the city’s first brokered Caribbean radio station.
Together with Empress Shae, Captain Kirk brings energy, expertise, and charisma to the airwaves. Their chemistry and passion for Caribbean music have made The Mid Day Jamz a must-listen show for fans of the genre worldwide.
