American rappers JStylez and Jredie blend their hip hop skills with Jamaican dancehall deejay E-Dee on ‘Count up Ya Blessings’, which was released in July.
The Los Angeles-based trio co-wrote the uptempo song which E-Dee describes as a blend of, “American hip hop and pop culture and Caribbean dancehall.”
He added that ‘Count up Ya Blessings’ stemmed from JStylez’ desire to do something different. Given E-Dee’s dancehall background, experimenting with Jamaican culture seemed natural.
“Thing is, he’s always liked my music an’ I always liked his flow. We met in a club some time ago an’ hit it off, so it’s a great vibe,” said E-Dee.
JStylez and Jredi earned their bonafides in the rugged Southern California hip hop scene, maybe the most competitive in the world. Their influences include Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Blackstreet and Usher.
‘All The Glory’ and ‘Angels on Standby’ are among JStylez’ previous songs, while Jredi is known for tracks like ‘Celly’ and ‘Distant Cousin’.
E-Dee was born in Clarendon parish in central Jamaica, where he honed his skills as a deejay. Since moving to the United States, he has released three albums and appeared as an actor in several movies including ‘Out The Gate’, ‘Temperature Rising’ and ‘Gangland’.
