Born Kevin Kelly on July 30th, 1986, in the heart of Kingston, Jamaica, his journey from the tough streets of Elliston Road to the international stage is marked by determination and a unique blend of lyrical skills.
Growing up in a challenging environment, Snipa Wizdom’s childhood was a testament to the hardships that shaped his character. Sent to live in Payne Land, one of Jamaica’s notorious garrisons, with his grandmother due to financial constraints, Snipa Wizdom learned early on to channel his emotions into something powerful music.
The moniker “Snipa” was bestowed upon him in his youth, a name that stuck as he matured. As he gained wisdom and learned to channel his struggles into his art, he adopted the name “Wizdom.” Merging the two, Snipa Wizdom was born.
Despite growing up without his father, who had moved to Canada when he was just one year old, Snipa Wizdom found solace and inspiration in the sounds of dancehall legends like Bounty Killa and Beenie Man. Bounty Killa’s music resonated deeply with him, reflecting the harsh realities of his upbringing. These influences became the foundation of his musical journey.
Snipa Wizdom’s entry into the music scene took flight when someone recognized the raw talent in one of his songs and offered to pay him for a performance at a birthday party. His first recording, ‘Dem a Wait Fi Dis,’ released in 2012, marked the beginning of a musical odyssey that would see him evolve into a dynamic artist.
In 2017, he released his debut album, ‘Rise of Leo,’ and embarked on a tour across Canada. Collaborating with producers from the Caribbean, the United States, and the U.K., Snipa Wizdom’s music began transcending borders. His infectious sound and diverse lyrical content drew attention, leading him to perform in locations such as the Turk and Caicos, Jamaica, Miami, and Orlando.
