Dancehall artiste Shac is calling on the gatekeepers in the local music industry to stop the gatekeeping and allow more new artistes to achieve success in the music business.
“I would love to see more love and unity in the music industry and less gatekeeping. The gatekeepers need to remove the barriers to success and give talented youths a chance to shine. Getting a break in the music business shouldn’t be about who you’re connected to or how much money you have. It should be about your talent and ability,” he said.
The Clarendon-born singjay who lists Buju Banton, Chronic Law, Burner Boy and Davido among his musical influences is currently promoting his new single which is titled ‘Heart of Mine’.
Produced by Pandemic Records on the Confine rhythm ‘Heart of Mine’ was released in June. The video for the song was filmed in various parts of Clarendon under the direction of RGM Productions and released in July.
“I am getting great feedback about this song and it’s also receiving a lot of support from DJs all over the world. I am grateful to everyone who’s playing it,” said Shac.
Eager to keep the momentum going he is currently working on projects for several popular labels and producers including Pandemic Records, Rural Area Productions, JayFK and Fame Beats.
“I can’t afford to fall off my game so I’m getting ready to drop a lot of new songs.”
Shac whose given name is Amos Junior Harris is a graduate of Porus High School. He made his recording debut in 2009 with the release of a song titled ‘My Time’ on the Rual Area Productions label.
