A native of Montego Bay, Gothic Musik grew up listening to the sounds of hardcore artists who dominated that resort city, including Tommy Lee Sparta and Teejay.
But the deejay is making a name for himself in Panama, a Spanish-speaking country with deep respect for Jamaican dancehall culture. Gothic Musik performed at that country’s Panama Carnival in the capital, Panama City, from February 13-18. It was an opportunity to perform ‘El Aguijon’ and ‘Rodando en Lacity’, his current songs which are collaborations with Spanish artists.
“Dancehall-reggae is big there (in Panama). Their music, Reggaeton, is based on dancehall-reggae. Shows like these show that I can make it in Latin America,” said Gothic Musik.
Reggaton is a blend of Spanish music, dancehall and traditional reggae. It has a large following throughout Latin America, mainly Panama, Puerto Rico and Colombia.
His performance at Panama Carnival was Gothic Musik’s second time in Panama. His first was in 2025 to promote the aforementioned songs. While his Spanish is limited, that has not prevented fans from embracing his music.
“They respond to di songs great, whether it’s a party song or a girls tune. I get a lotta love in Panama,” said Gothic Musik.
