Veteran Broadcaster Returns to Radio with a Renewed Mission

In October 2024, long-time media professional and cultural advocate, Danae Peart, made a celebrated return to the airwaves as a radio host on VIBE105.5FM. Known for her behind-the-scenes leadership roles, this marks her first foray as a “swing jock” — a dynamic, on-air personality tackling a new format in a different era of broadcasting.

Reflecting on her journey, she recalls the pivotal transformation of CHRY into VIBE105, a major reorganization that kept her firmly behind the scenes. “That ship had sailed,” she thought, believing her on-air days were behind her. Yet, her enduring passion for radio, reggae, and cultural broadcasting never wavered.

A concerning trend — the erasure of reggae from major platforms, including the JUNO Awards — reignited her commitment. Motivated to be part of the solution rather than a bystander, she decided to take action. “Can I do more? Can I truly influence the next phase of growth for the things I love?” These questions propelled her back into the spotlight, determined to use her expertise to teach, critique, and elevate the genre.

Now hosting a weekday show from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., she promises a magical blend of content, even if listeners catch her “in the office during meetings” while her voice rules the airwaves. Despite battling post-New Year’s illness, her energy and passion shine through each broadcast.

“Radio still has magic,” she affirms, inviting audiences to tune in and be part of this new chapter.

Her return signals not only a personal transformation but also a renewed commitment to preserving and advancing reggae and cultural broadcasting for future generations.
