1 Suga Dhon Gets a Lift from Koffee

Many artists say a defining point of their careers was when they met their heroes. Last summer, 1 Suga Dhon came face to face with one of her biggest influences.

Koffee, first woman to win the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, visited Buff Bay High School in Portland parish, Eastern Jamaica. One of the persons she met on the school tour was 1 Suga Dhon, a final-year student.

“It was great, a really great feeling. She gave me some advice which I thought was very nice…every upcoming artist needs that, especially from someone like her,” said 1 Suga Dhon.

The 18-year-old is currently promoting ‘Ghetto Product’, a song produced by Crown International Records. It looks at the stress of living impoverished in the ghettos of Jamaica.

“I hope it can give me that big breakthrough because it speaks volumes. A lotta people can relate to this song,” said 1 Suga Dhon.

‘Ghetto Product’ was released in late 2022. It reunited her with producer Ansel Owen of Crown International Records who also directed her on ‘Sorry’.

Another of her songs, ’40’, was done on the Green Concrete Riddim compilation album which has songs by top acts such as Sizzla, Norris Man and Turbulence.
